I've always wanted to assemble a model engine and saw this Haynes kit advertised on Jalopnik Deals a while back; it ended up being a late Christmas present from my folks. It'll move, light up and play sounds once I assemble it and put 3 AA batteries in.

Very cool I looks like it is OHC vs OHV like the Revell V8 model kit.

I got the same Haynes kit! But mines a 4 cylinder.

Awesome. I bought one when they had a sale and mentioned on Jalopnik. Sand or use a razor blade to trim the excess plastic off the injection mold parts for a smooth working engine.
I loved every minute building it. It's as fun as a real engine without the oil, precise measurements and heavy weight :)
The sounds aren't in tune to the engine running, and the obnoxiously loud motor drowns it out.
Made a review a while back :)

Cool! My childhood best friend's dad had one, it always fascinated me.

Really? That's cool. I just searched engine model kits on Amazon and saw the one that Jalopnik had featured; the Revell kit that T5Killer mentioned also has me interested.

Great write-up! The motor in your video does seem loud.

Hobby stores are way cooler than I thought!
